What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth, offering the look and function of natural teeth. They consist of a titanium post inserted into the jawbone, an abutment, and a crown. This process, called osseointegration, ensures that the implant fuses with the bone, providing a secure and stable foundation for chewing and speaking.

Whether you’re missing one tooth or multiple teeth, dental implants can restore your smile and improve your overall oral health.

Benefits

Natural Look & Feel

Dental implants look and function like your natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile confidently.

Bone Preservation

Implants prevent bone loss by stimulating the jawbone, maintaining your facial structure and oral health

Long-Term Solution

With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, making them a cost-effective and durable option.

Process

The Process of Getting Dental Implants

1

Consultation and Planning

Your journey begins with a thorough consultation, including a review of your medical history, a clinical examination, and necessary X-rays, including a 3D CBCT scan. This helps us plan the optimal placement of your implant and identify any need for additional procedures like bone grafting or sinus lifts.

Pre-Care Tips:

  • Ensure a healthy oral environment by maintaining good dental hygiene.
  • Discuss any medical conditions or medications with your oral surgeon.
2

Preparation and Implant Placement

If needed, bone grafting or sinus lifts are performed to create a strong foundation. The titanium post is then surgically placed into your jawbone under local anesthesia, nitrous oxide sedation, or IV sedation for your comfort.

3

Healing and Integration

Over the next few months, the implant undergoes osseointegration, fusing with the bone. Temporary teeth may be placed during this period to maintain function and aesthetics.

4

Final Restoration

Once the implant is securely integrated, an abutment is attached to the post, serving as a connector for the custom-made crown, which is then placed to complete the restoration and give you a natural-looking, functional tooth.

Post-Care Tips:

  • Follow prescribed oral hygiene practices to maintain the health of your implant.
  • Attend regular check-ups to monitor the condition of your implant and overall oral health.
